For Mustang Mach-E owners with the extended-range battery, the 250 kWh of fast-charging energy is equal to more than three fill-ups. For standard-range battery models, the 250 kilowatt-hours of fast charging energy is equal to more than five fill-ups.

GM is set to deliver its 2011 Chevrolet Volt to its first batch of owners, but it's just booked a big order sure to keep the extended-range electric car in short supply for the near future. Corporate giant GE said today it would purchase 25,000 electric cars over the next five years.

The officially recognized millionth mile in a Chevrolet Equinox Fuel Cell electric vehicle was driven by Jeanine Behr-Getz, an author of children’s books and mother of a first-grade daughter in Greenwich, Conn. Feedback and learning from the Equinox fuel cell is being shared with the Volt development team.

All of this means a PHEV uses much less liquid fuel (as little as 10% of a conventional vehicle’s averaged annual fuel consumption), saving money and extending the miles per gallon of gasoline or alternative liquid fuel. Already the Chevrolet Volt is moving us in that direction. These PHEV Volts have a 35 mile (56 km) AER.

Competition is going to force them to produce a comfortable, usable, extended range EV for that price, and I will just have to wait. ↓ ↑ report 7 jharlan 2:20PM (4/25/2009) You know, I still just have no use for a toy car at a real car price. o well I guess they think all yanks hate diesels.
