In India, even though it is not an electric car, the OLA electric scooter got bookings worth Rs 1,100 CR. In the coming decade, battery prices will go down, whereas the cost of petrol will keep going up. Most of these legacy automakers selling ICE cars are clueless and have no idea of the tsunami about to hit them.

It would be a good idea to retrofit this in existing Nexon's. One idea would be to cater to the commercial segment. Another idea that we discussed was using this for charging swappable batteries. Throw in costs of the driver, electricity and maintenance, that would mean a minimum revenue required of Rs. 6 lakh per year.

The idea is that when your car needs more energy, you can drive your car into a station and, like an automated car wash, your depleted battery is replaced robotically by one that has a full charge. Maybe you should ask some engineers at the local power utility before you go shooting your mouth off, decrying how the idea will never fly.
