The BMW Group Technology Office, together with Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E), have launched an 18-month pilot of the BMW i ChargeForward Program in the San Francisco Bay Area. The program is now issuing calls to participating BMW i3 drivers in the Bay Area to request the interruption of the charging of their EVs for one hour.

At the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, BMW announced the BMW i ChargeForward Program—a pilot study to be undertaken by the BMW Group Technology Office, together with Pacific Gas & Electric Company (PG&E). Grid efficiency through managed charging, combined with a used EV battery “second-life” system.

Bettering leasing penetration is a concern for BMW sellers. We’re signaling to our world colleagues our call for and looking to get the fitting automobiles to this marketplace. Electrical automobiles wish to get charged. So we’d like charging infrastructure. that can’t be the one charging answer.

Ian Robertson, Sales and Marketing Director of BMW Group AG, today joined Business Secretary Peter Mandelson and Transport Secretary Geoff Hoon in Scotland as they launched the Government’s vision for ultra-low carbon transport in the UK. BMW has already established a number of key proposed partners for the UK trial.
