Nine BEVs and PHEVs had positive growth in Q3, while 19 models saw declines in Q3, although two of those models (Honda Clarity and Mazda MX-30) have been discontinued, sales of the Toyota bZ4X were halted while they fixed a mechanical issue; and the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is in transition to the new 2023 model.

Perhaps the first electric sub-brand was BMW’s i series, which included the i3 hatchback and i8 plug-in hybrid sports coupe. BMW’s electric i sub-brand started with the quirky i3. Next up will be the ID.Buzz electric minivan. 3 is a Golf-sized e-Golf replacement that’s sold in Europe and elsewhere, where the Golf is king.
