Three months after opening US orders for the long-anticipated three-row EV9 SUV, the folks at Kia invited media out to wine country to test drive it for the first time. We’ve already had up-close encounters with the EV9, but this was our first chance to take it for a spin and really test everything inside and out (including that third row).

Also, at the company’s upcoming EV “Metaplant” in Georgia it’s aiming to make up to 300,000 EVs annually, it plans to deploy more of these fuel-cell trucks for logistics. while the BMW iX5 is currently being fleet-tested. Don’t write off cars and SUVs altogether. In the U.S., What about fuel-cell cars and trucks?

Hyundai’s investment plans this year include boosting mass-produced EVs while finishing construction at its Georgia manufacturing plant. Hyundai is expected to launch its first three-row electric SUV later this year. The automaker is doubling down this year with plans to sell even more EVs, with around 300,000 deliveries in 2024.

At its own theater in Laguna Beach, California, the company presented the expected Rivian R2 electric SUV , a smaller sibling to the R1S that will start at $45,000, deliver more than 300 miles of range in most of its forms, and be comparable to the Tesla Model Y in overall footprint.

A Bona Fide Third Row in an Electric SUV Combine the Kia Telluride three-row SUV and the Kia EV6 crossover and you get the all-new, all-electric 2024 Kia EV9 three-row SUV. There are other electric SUVs with a third row, but when comparing apples-to-apples, the EV9 offers the most cabin space for the lowest base price.

One’s a three-row midsize SUV under $60,000; the other’s a compact hatchback that starts in the mid-30s. We’re not holding our breath for that mythical $30,000 Chevrolet Equinox EV, but we figured retail versions of Chevy’s Silverado EV pickup truck and Blazer EV SUV would have reached the market by now. Now we’ve driven both.
