Riad and his Tesla ran a red light before slamming into the other car at 74 mph. Kevin George Aziz Riad was sentenced to probation, 31 days of work service, 100 hours of community service, a hospital/morgue program, and 90 days of house arrest. A Tesla engineer testified that no brakes were applied and that Riad’s hands were on the wheel.

Keeping snow chains on hand is never a bad idea. Snow chains are a liability on clean pavement and are prone toward breaking at speeds above 30 mph. It’s another interesting idea from an automaker bent on innovation. Prolonged use (even at extremely low speeds) will also gradually chew up your tires and mar the pavement.

People are scared that they’ll get stuck and have no way of charging the batteries, hey I have an idea why not build a wind turbine on the roof that way as you drive the turbine spins and charges the battery. & Still, it remains a good idea to have something downmarket and we’ve certainly seen automakers paint themselves into a corner by ending production on entire vehicle segments. You can even stream video from inside the vehicle, assuming the idea of being recorded from inside the car isn’t too creepy.&

Caroline Reichert, an RWE spokeswoman, noted that the idea here is to ensure that "a car can be recharged in Italy in exactly the same way as in Denmark, Germany or France."
