Cummins will expand PEM electrolyzer manufacturing capacity at its Oevel, Belgium, factory to 1 gigawatt with the support from the Important Project of Common European Interest (IPCEI) Hy2Tech program. The expansion in Belgium adds to Cummins’ already scaling global electrolyzer manufacturing footprint.

The European innovation project Flagships will deploy the world’s first commercial cargo transport vessel operating on hydrogen, plying the river Seine in Paris. The hydrogen cargo transport vessel will be owned by French inland shipowner Compagnie Fluvial de Transport (CFT), a subsidiary of the Sogestran Group.

Construction has started on the first public hydrogen station in Belgium, to be operated by Air Liquide. TME is granting the right to use the land for free over a period of 20 years. Two regions of Europe are taking part in this project: the Brussels region in Belgium, and the Wer-Ems region in Germany.

The truck and its operation will be partly funded by the EU project REVIVE which has an objective to accelerate the development of hydrogen-fueled refuse trucks in Europe. Ballard Power Systems announced a purchase order from Van Hool, a leading bus OEM and Ballard partner headquartered in Belgium, for 10 fuel cell modules to power Van Hool A330 buses to be deployed in Emmen, the Netherlands, under the JIVE2 funding program. Van Hool A330 Fuel Cell Buses powered by Ballard.

Ballard Power Systems announced a purchase order from Van Hool, a leading bus OEM and Ballard partner headquartered in Belgium, for 20 FCveloCity-HD 85kW fuel cell modules to power buses in Groningen, the Netherlands, under the JIVE2 funding program. Ballard plans to deliver the 20 FCveloCity-HD 85kW modules in 2020.
