The Abfallentsorgungs-Gesellschaft Ruhrgebiet mbH ( AGR ), a waste management company in Herten, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, has put a converted DAF CF 340 hydrogen fuel cell truck into operation as part of the EU-funded HECTOR (Hydrogen Waste Collection Vehicles in North West Europe) project.

Toyota Motor Europe (TME) Fuel Cell Business will supply and integrate fuel cell modules into a zero-emission train prototype as part of the FCH2RAIL project in Europe. On the remaining sections of the lines, diesel-powered trains are used. Therefore, the drive unit can be designed for use in both passenger and freight transport.

With HVO the CO 2 footprint of the mtu systems for dynamic uninterruptible power supply (DUPS) can be reduced by up to 90% (depending on the fuel’s manufacturing process and feedstock), particulate emissions by up to 80% and nitrogen oxide emissions by up to eight percent compared to fossil diesel. This happens without any interruption.

The electric motor on the Citaro hybrid assists the combustion engine when high levels of power are required, particularly when moving off. They are resistant to high power peaks and have a long life.
