UK-based Connected Energy and Groupe Renault have installed two quick-charge stations based on Connected Energy’s E-STOR energy storage technology on highways in Belgium and Germany. The E-STOR technology developed by Connected Energy uses second-life batteries from Renault electric vehicles.

As a result of the study, Gasunie and four Dutch port authorities are now arranging for a definition study to be carried out into the practical design of an exchange on which hydrogen can be traded freely. A hydrogen exchange could be set up in stages and grow incrementally along with the formation of a market for climate-neutral hydrogen.

Their initial idea was that garaged vehicles would have a two-way computer-controlled connection to the electric grid, which could receive power from the vehicle as well as provide power to it. Utrecht now has 800 bidirectional chargers designed and manufactured by the Dutch engineering firm NieuweWeme. This is good for the grid.
