The 2023 Toyota Highlander gas models are equipped with a new, higher-torque, high-efficiency turbocharged engine. Fuel efficiency is also improved for this higher-torque engine with an EPA-estimate of up to 25 MPG combined. The 2023 Highlander turbo models offer a choice of FWD or two different available AWD systems.

Toyota introduced the next-generation three-row 2020 Highlander SUV at the New York International Auto Show. Arriving in Toyota dealerships in winter, the Highlander gasoline model will arrive in December 2019 and the Highlander Hybrid will make its way to customers in February 2020.

Useful to be sure, but more a green merit badge on a $30,000+ SUV with real world mpg still under 30 than a significant environmental choice. The 24 NiMH batteries in my Toyota RAV4 EV take the car 120 miles without gasoline. Theoretically, yes.
