Daimler Trucks unveiled the concept Mercedes-Benz GenH2 Truck, marking the beginning of a fuel-cell push by Daimler for the long-haul transport segment. Due to the use of liquid instead of gaseous hydrogen with its higher energy density, the vehicle’s performance is planned to equal that of a comparable conventional diesel truck.

At this year’s IAA International Motor Show in Frankfurt, Mercedes-Benz is presenting preproduction models of the new Mercedes-Benz GLC F‑CELL ( earlier post ). kg of hydrogen on board, the preproduction model produces enough energy for a total range of up to 437 km (271.5 kWh (net) lithium-ion battery (13.8 kWh gross).

The Vision F-Cell is Fuso’s concept of an electric truck that uses the power of a Fuel Cell as one option to extend the range of an electric vehicle. The Vision F-Cell is a fully drivable concept model. Power is provided by the 75 kW fuel cell stack and the 135 kW battery. The range is up to 300 kilometers.

Hermes and Mercedes-Benz Vans have agreed on a wide-ranging strategic partnership to electrify the courier service’s vehicle fleet. The companies are to start using battery-electric vehicles in the logistics provider’s normal operations in a pilot phase in Stuttgart and Hamburg in early 2018.

Since the end of 2011, five Mercedes-Benz Citaro FuelCELL Hybrid models have been serving on routes in and around Brugg (in the canton of Aargau) as PostAuto vehicles. Over the next five years, PostAuto will test the fuel-cell drive, using clean hydrogen as fuel.
