Mercedes-Benz Trucks will be presenting the series version of the previous eActros LongHaul on 10 October 2023, with a new design and the new name of eActros 600 as a world premiere. The designation 600 is derived from the battery capacity in kilowatt hours—as in the eActros 300/400 for distribution haulage.

This is the opposite of the approach taken by Toyota with its Mirai fuel cell vehicle ( earlier post ) and Honda with its new FCV Concept ( earlier post ). Fuel cell technology is running in comepetition with long-range battery electric vehicles. Meanwhile, outside the stack the electrons supply the electrical power.

It is important to realize that a fuel cell car is actually an electric car. The Honda FCX Clarity FCEV and the Toyota Mirai FCEV, both use an electric drive motor and a battery pack. So, fuel cell cars have some of the advantages of pure fully electric cars. The reasons are numerous. .
