Tarun used to regularly swap batteries in the first year, but does not swap nowadays. A few months ago, he got a brand new battery at the swap station. Since then he has stayed with the same battery. “Any new technology like the Chevy Volt takes time to become profitable,&# said Jay Friedland, the legislative director for Plug-In America , an electric-car advocacy group. is hoping to launch the Volt in late 2010 with a price tag of about $40,000.
