The use of low-carbon eFuel has the potential to reduce carbon dioxide emissions from existing internal combustion vehicles by at least 70% on a lifecycle basis, compared to conventional fuels. Meanwhile, in Bilbao, Spain, Aramco and Repsol are exploring the production of low-carbon synthetic diesel and jet fuel for automobiles and aircraft.

Balqon Corporation, a developer and manufacturer of zero emissions, heavy-duty electric vehicles and drive systems ( earlier post ), has received a $490,000 order for electric drive systems under a new dealer agreement with DynaProTech, a leading composite automotive parts manufacturer in the People’s Republic of China. Stop-Start technology, which turns the engine off when stopped in traffic and restarts it when the driver releases the brake or engages the gears, is gaining momentum worldwide as a means to save fuel and reduce emissions. The battery also charges the supercapacitors for their first start, but once driving, the alternator keeps them charged.

In Europe, Audi increased sales by 6% to around 62,300 units, despite the model changeover for its bestseller, the Audi A4, and in spite of the background of the Volkswagen Group emissions issue. Among the major European markets, Spain achieved the highest growth in November, with Audi sales rising by 35.2% to 181,803 automobiles.
