Here in the UK we’re so downtrodden by extortionate petrol prices that the prospect of driving fuel efficient green cars carries obvious appeal. This failure, it believes, has prompted US car manufacturers to lose market share to foreign rivals and particularly those from Japan such as Toyota and Honda.

And EV straggler Honda shed a bit more light on its upcoming EVs built on GM’s Ultium battery and powertrain platform. Honda of America sales chief Dave Gardner told reporters one of the electric SUVs will be from the Honda brand, while the other will be an Acura. Honda will offer more details later this year, he said.

GM will leapfrog Toyota and Honda by providing an electric car to the masses by the end of next year. It also offers eight hybrid models. Honda has probably sold more Civics in a year than the combined total of all 18 of those GM models. Thats short-sighted. GM is developing more fuel-efficient vehicles. you see that?
