A new study sponsored by Indiana University concludes that President Obama’s vision of one million plug-in electric vehicles (PEVs) on US roads by 2015 will require concentrated efforts action from all stakeholders— the auto industry, federal government, the scientific community, and consumers—to be realized.

The PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle), a subset of the electric car, combines a primary electric motor with a much smaller back-up engine fueled with a hydrocarbon/biofuel mix. (In In this paper PHEV refers solely to the long-range PHEV of 60 miles (100 km) electric-only range.) It is much more than that.

While the most common place for recharging was at home (51%), many are also charging their vehicles while out and about. Volvo Cars is taking a bold lead with electrification in the auto industry.

Electric Cars and The Volt Can Transform America and the Auto Industry TODAY!!! If you charge up the Toyota Prius PHEV you would get 200 miles per gallon and 40 mile EV range; the same as the Volt. Here are some other important aspects to pure electric cars (or the purely electric part of a PHEV). So, what is there to do?

While the manufacturing of ICEVs has seemingly stalled in reducing carbon emissions, EVs have a cleaner and ever-improving future ahead. EV MYTH ONE: Manufacturing EVs is just as bad for the environment as ICEVs.

Millions will plug-in their electric vehicles (EV), plug-in hybrids (PHEV) and fuel cell vehicles (FCV) at night when electricity is cheap, then plug-in during the day when energy is expensive and sell those extra electrons at a profit. Millions of EVs and PHEVs would expand the sale of electricity as an alternative to oil.
