RUSAL opens new low-carbon aluminum smelter in Taishet

Russia-based RUSAL, a global aluminum producer, opened the first phase of its low-carbon aluminum production plant, Taishet Aluminum Smelter (TaAZ), in Taishet, Siberia. TaAZ is the third low-carbon aluminum smelter to be built by RUSAL, with an overall cost of more than $1.69 Pre-operation verifications and testing have begun.

CPT developing 48-volt electric supercharger for micro-mild hybrids

This compares favorably with the 8-20 percent typical of CO 2 emissions benefit offered by mild hybrids, full hybrids and plug-in hybrids, at a much higher manufacturing on-cost of between €1,600 and €10,000. Following this initial assessment by carmakers, the vehicle will then be re-built with a 48 volt electrical system.
