Electric cars in the garages would double as battery packs for when energy supplies are scarce. Demand for energy, to heat our buildings in the winter and cool them in the summer, is highest at the very time when supply is also the greatest. At current transportation battery prices, that is well beyond the cost of spinning reserve.
