Wagons haven’t been fashionable in North America since they were supplanted by the minivan in the 1980s. Those just interested in getting a wagon will probably settle on a Subaru Outback, Volvo V60, or an Audi A6 Allroad. BMW is probably wondering how many of those might opt for an M5 Touring instead.

While it’s not as legendary of a nameplate as other icons of motoring, the Pathfinder was once a rugged body-on-frame SUV that could go just about anywhere, it’s now a minivan without the utility of a minivan. 2022 Audi Q4 e-tron: This is the only one on my list that's a '22 MY, though I drove it in 2023. All are 2023s or 2024s.

While the Chrysler 300 improves to “Average,” the Pacifica minivan falls to “Below-Average.”

Standardization of battery shape and chemistry is another consideration that gives one pause. Also, until standardization of connectors becomes fully implemented, EV owners may have to carry an assortment of adapters to be able to plug in to chargers from different suppliers. One of the main drawbacks to charge stations is speed.
