The legacy of Mildred Dresselhaus Crawford received the Dresselhaus Medal on 5 May during the IEEE Vision, Innovation, and Challenges Summit and Honors Ceremony , held at the Hilton Atlanta. Mildred Dresselhaus worked at MIT, which she joined in 1960 as a researcher in its Lincoln Laboratory Solid State Division, in Lexington, Mass.

The tie-up with Singapore-based SolidEnergy Systems, which was founded by MIT grad Qichao Hu, is focused on new battery chemistry to reduce the size of the batteries while increasing an EV’s range. The wholly owned unit of LG Chem confirmed that the company had recently sent the letter to the senator, but declined to confirm the details.

A new study by a team from the University of Pennsylvania and MIT suggests it will be easier for cities to reduce CO 2 emissions coming from residential energy use rather than from local transportation. This reduction will happen mostly thanks to better building practices, not greater housing density.
