Nissan Motor will invest $600 million in Argentina and will become an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) with the domestic production there of an all-new NP300 Frontier pick-up. With the expansion, Nissan is making Argentina a key component of its regional strategy eventually to position itself among the Top 3 brands in Latin America.

Mercedes-Benz Vans unveiled two design variants of the Concept X-CLASS, previewing the coming X-Class pickup, in Stockholm. The introduction of the one-ton pickup with seating for up to 5 people will make Mercedes-Benz the first premium manufacturer to account for the changing customer requirements in the global segment of mid-size pickups.

Together, Nissan and Daimler will develop a 1-ton pickup truck for Mercedes-Benz. Mercedes-Benz recently announced its entry into this segment. The Mercedes-Benz pickup will share some of the architecture with the all-new Nissan NP300 but it will be engineered and designed by Daimler to meet the specific needs of its customers.

Mercedes-Benz has unveiled its new pickup truck—the first from a premium manufacturer—the X-Class. At the beginning of 2018 South Africa, Australia and New Zealand will follow, and at the beginning of 2019 Argentina and Brazil. In short, the X-Class is the Mercedes among pickups.
