The numerical part of the standard category, such as 20 in SULEV20, refers to the emission standard, in thousandths of a gram per mile. The proposed vehicle is closer to a BEV than to a PHEV: a vehicle with primarily zero-emission operation equipped with a small non-ZEV fuel auxiliary power unit (APU) for limited range extension.
