And I’m one those million since they’re counting plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) as well as full battery electrics. I think that’s fair since on a good day my 3 ½-year-old Chevrolet Volt has a 61-mile all-electric range, roughly comparable to a used Nissan Leaf or Fiat 500e. 11,956 fuel cell electrics (1.1%).

Effective January 1, 2022, electric vehicles with final assembly* (see definition at the end) in China would no longer qualify for IRC 30D (federal EV tax credit). China’s CATL is already one of the world’s leading suppliers of batteries for electric vehicles, including to OEMs such as Tesla, Volkswagen, and Geely.

Until then, we can always program the ESS to make what Lotus refers to as "more futuristic sounds for electric vehicles [that] can be created using sampled sounds and generated waveforms." Alternatively, may we suggest the sound of the neighborhood ice cream truck? We always seem to hear that one coming from a mile away.

There are proponents of each method and, though all three could be used, it is possible that one or more might never make it in the real world or that another method might come to the fore.
