In the same year, national standards for M85 and M100 were also promulgated. Most recently, methanol-fueled prototypes are being tested in 3 provinces of China.

The Model T and Model A Fords were later designed to operate on either alcohol or gasoline or a blend of alcohol and gasoline. During the early 1900s, a distillery was a standard piece of farm equipment. These distilleries made 192-proof alcohol for human consumption, lantern fuel and transportation fuel.
