Ford CEO Jim Farley wants the company to deliver affordable EVs like Henry Ford did with the Model T. Ford moves to affordable EVs Farley believes its next-gen EVs will “not only be profitable, but also affordable for most Americans.” For example, the F-150 Lightning battery could cost “$30,000 to $40,000.”

The 2024 Ford E-Transit gets a larger battery pack affording more range, among other changes. With Level 2 AC charging, the new hardware can harness an available 80A wallbox for a six-hour, 11-minute full recharge. Ford also touts Pro Power Onboard, as offered in the F-150 family, including the Lighting Pro electric work truck.

There are also, incidentally, income tax credits at the federal and state levels for installation of EV charging equipment. So that's what it takes.

Mitsubishi is positioning the North American i-MiEV electric vehicle as the most affordably-priced mass-produced EV available in the US. The cooling system only becomes operational when it detects that the battery temperature is above 68 °F (20 °C); in this initial phase the HVAC blower fan and the battery ventilation fan are engaged.

For electric vehicles, the BBBA includes multiple proposed changes to IRC 30D, more commonly knows as the federal EV tax credit. Perhaps the mostly likely is the requirement for EVs to be assembled in the US in a union factory to qualify for an additional $4,500 tax credit. Tax Credit Becomes Refundable. More on this below.
