With 331,817 new energy vehicles (EVs and PHEVs) sold in May (+38% YOY), BYD posted its second-highest sales month ever. Of them, nearly 146,400 were fully electric. BYD has sold 580,974 all-electric vehicles so far this year, up 19% compared to the 488,600 sold a year ago. In Mexico, it starts at $19,780 (358,800 pesos).

BYD achieves second highest sales record in May After hitting a new electric vehicle (EV) weekly sales record in early May, BYD is not slowing down. With 331,817 NEVs (EVs and PHEVs) sold last month, BYD is closing in on its all-time sales record. This is the third straight record PHEV sales month.

In the first three months of the year, BYD sold 300,114 fully electric vehicles, up 13.4% BYD’s electric vehicle production also rose 9%, with 291,730 EVs built in Q1. Meanwhile, plug-in hybrid sales were up 14.5%, with 324,284 PHEVS sold. over Q1 2023. Overall sales reached 626,263 in Q1, representing 13.4% growth YOY.

Volvo reached its highest-ever share of electrified vehicles as its new fully electric EX30 boosted EV sales in February. Although overall sales slid 2% last month, Volvo’s fully electric vehicle sales were up 14%, reaching a new record share. Fully electric cars also set a new record. 0 to 60 mph sprint.

Germany, for example, became the third country after China and the United States to record half a million new battery electric car registrations in a single year, with 18% of car sales being battery electric (and another 6% plug-in hybrid). In Germany, the sales share for electric cars fell from 30% in 2022 to 25% in 2023.
