Sales of diesel light-duty vehicles (Class 1-3) in the US in 2018 reached their highest annual level, coming in at more than 500,000 units—just over 3% of total vehicle sales—according to figures by Baum & Associates provided by the Diesel Technology Forum. Sales from these vehicles in 2018 increased by 9% as compared to 2017.

The 2018 Chevrolet Equinox offers an EPA-certified 39 mpg (6.03 GM expects that number to top the segment in highway fuel economy, with greater highway mileage than the 2017 Toyota RAV4 hybrid (30 mpg) and Nissan Rogue hybrid (35 mpg FWD). The 2018 Equinox is on sale now, starting at $24,475 (including destination charge).
