Alstom and MOL, Hungary’s leading oil and gas company, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to structure cooperation in examining the use of hydrogen technology in rail transportation. Alstom is a pioneer of hydrogen technology, having introduced the Coradia iLint to the German market in September 2018 ( earlier post ).

South Korea-based SK On (SKO), a global EV battery manufacturer, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Australia’s Global Lithium Resources to explore future business opportunities together in regard to stable supply of lithium. Incorporated in 2018, Global Lithium was listed on the Australian Stock Exchange last year.

Around 160,000 units of Audi’s first electric model have been delivered since 2018. From 2025, production at all Audi plants will be carbon neutral as part of the company-wide environmental program Mission:Zero. The companies that supply the battery cells are obliged to use only renewable energy sources for production.

Mercedes-Benz Cars is starting construction of its first “Full-Flex Plant“ in Kecskemét, Hungary, about 90 km in the south of Budapest. Overall, the company is investing €1 billion in the new car plant and creating more than 2,500 jobs. The plant is highly efficient and has a CO 2 -neutral energy supply.
