Latest GHG Inventory shows California remains below 2020 emissions target; much steeper rate of GHG reductions required

The California Air Resources Board released GHG emissions data for 2018 showing that emissions remain below 1990 levels but are effectively flat compared to 2017, while the economy grew by 4.3%. Total statewide 2018 GHG emissions were 425.3 Transportation emissions declined 1.5 tons per person in 2018, a 24% decrease.

Study: consumer products overtake transportation as largest source of VOCs air pollution in cities

The results, published in an open-access paper in the journal Science , suggest that the focus of efforts to mitigate ozone formation and toxic chemical burdens need to be adjusted, the authors suggested. EPA issues ANPR on Clean Trucks Initiative, seeking input from public and stakeholders

The US EPA issued an Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (ANPR) for the Cleaner Trucks Initiative (CTI). The EPA Administrator announced in November 2018 that EPA would pursue the Cleaner Trucks Initiative (CTI) to update NO x emissions standards for heavy-duty trucks. EPA intends to publish a proposed rule in early 2020.
