The California Center for Jobs & The Economy has released an updated report ( earlier post ) on the progress of ZEV sales in the state during the first half of 2020, drawing on sales data from the California New Car Dealers Association (CNCDA). According to a new report from the California Center for Jobs and the Economy, California’s cumulative plug-in vehicle (PEV, including PHEVs and full EVs) sales are at 10.5% True ZEVs—battery electric vehicles and the handful of fuel cell electric vehicles—are at 5.6% True ZEV sales would have to be 5.0 times higher.

Toyota currently has more than 40% share of the total alternative fuel vehicle market, which includes a 75% share of the fuel cell market and a 64% share of hybrids and plug-ins. By 2025, Toyota’s goal is to have 40% of new vehicle sales be electrified models, and by 2030 expects that to increase to nearly 70%.
