At the 2017 Geneva Motor Show the brand presented the potential of its new technologies in the form of the Audi Q8 sport concept showcar. The 12-volt system is connected to the main electrical system via a DC/DC converter. In the medium-term, the brand plans to convert ancillary units such as pumps and compressors to 48 volts.

Keeping pace with its announced intention to roll out 10 plug-in hybrids by 2017 ( earlier post ), Mercedes-Benz introduced the new GLE550 e 4MATIC plug-in hybrid (PHEV) along with the other members of the new GLE family of full-size SUVs. The electrical energy is stored in an 8.8 across the nine speeds.

Kia unveiled three major hybrid offerings at the Chicago Auto Show: the 2017 Niro Hybrid Utility Vehicle; the new Optima Hybrid; and the new Optima Plug-in Hybrid. A 38 kW electric motor and clutch replaces the traditional torque converter to provide strong off-the-line acceleration and power assistance to the engine when necessary.
