Brammo began developing and building electric motorcycles in 2007; the company originally developed custom battery modules for electric racing motorcycles that could compete and win against gas equivalents. In 2015, Brammo sold its electric motorcycle division to investor Polaris.

The program incentives are available for electric, plug-in hybrid electric, fuel cell vehicles and electric motorcycles. The Clean Vehicle Rebate Project is part of ARB’s Air Quality Improvement Program, established by AB 118 (2007, Nuñez), to reduce smog and diesel particulate pollution and greenhouse gas emissions.
