TEG component (cartridge) and TEG architecture concept. Gentherm is supplying modular, cylindrical-shaped thermoelectric cartridges that convert waste heat from the exhaust into electricity. We are now working closely with Tenneco to integrate our thermoelectric cartridges into a new and innovative exhaust system design.

BMW has introduced a new range of M Performance Automobiles featuring a new 6-cylinder in-line diesel developed exclusively for those applications. The vehicle meets Euro 6 exhaust standards. To further increase the performance of the large turbocharger, a greater volume of exhaust gas is required at around 2,700 rpm.

Among the new features in the R18 are a more radical aerodynamics concept, including a new safety cell; a Li-ion battery replacing the flywheel energy storage system; and a revised V6 TDI diesel engine. The FIA WEC regulations have been providing automobile manufacturers with incentives to build increasingly efficient race cars since 2014.

All model variants come with extensive BMW EfficientDynamics technology as standard and meet the stipulations of the EU6 exhaust standard. In June 2013, Audi commissioned a power-to-gas facility in the north German town of Werlte, thus becoming the first automobile manufacturer to develop a chain of sustainable energy sources. The plant has been in normal operation since late 2014.
