Hyundai is initially offering the Tucson Fuel Cell to customers in the Los Angeles/Orange County region for a 36-month term at $499 per month, with $2,999 down. Hyundai’s position on fuel cell vehicles is that they alleviate the limitations of traditional battery-electric vehicles with respect to range and refueling (recharging) time.

Drivers of the BMW ActiveE will be able to recharge their electric vehicle at any ChargePoint Network-enabled electric vehicle charging station in the US. The feedback from customers testing the MINI E and the BMW ActiveE will be fed directly into series production of the i3, which is scheduled to launching under the i Brand in 2013.

Although an electric range of 10 miles may not sound too impressive, the more frequently a battery is fully discharged during normal operation, and subsequently recharged from the grid, the faster the consumer sees a return on their battery investment.
