California has a Renewable Portfolio Standard that calls for us to be at 20% renewable energy this year, 2010. Right now we’re at about 12% from renewable sources. They wish no one had rooftop solar – unless of course that solar is owned by the utility and they can keep charging you for it. They already have.

GM has announced plans for public sales in 2010, and almost every carmaker now says it will sell PHEVs or highway-speed battery electric vehicles (BEVs) sometime after 2010. Committed to sales of 10,000 or more vehicles in late 2010, with increasing production in 2011. Aims to get Saturn Vue on road in 2010; no production goal.

According to Nissan, the company plans to introduce its upcoming electric car in Oregon in late 2010. Finally, in a first-of-its-kind partnership in the United States, Mitsubishi announced a strategic alliance with Oregon to develop an electric car charging infrastructure in the state. If you charge with solar, is way less.
