The BMW i8 plug-in hybrid ( earlier post ) was named the World Green Car at the World Car Awards in New York. Ian Robertson, Member of the Board of Management of BMW AG, responsible for Sales and Marketing BMW. Since 2005, the World Car Awards have been presented annually at the start of the New York International Auto Show.

GM has announced plans for public sales in 2010, and almost every carmaker now says it will sell PHEVs or highway-speed battery electric vehicles (BEVs) sometime after 2010. In late 2008, BYD started selling the first production PHEV in China. First Escape PHEV delivered to SCE Nov 2007; 20 in 2008-2009. Batteries not ready.

Revenues, which have grown by about 45% annually during the past five years, reached $4 billion in 2008. He was paid about $265,000 in 2008, and he lives in a BYD-owned apartment complex with other engineers. This attention to costs is one reason that BYD has made money consistently even as it has expanded into new businesses.
