At the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit this week, Ford delivered first proof of that focus with the reveal of the new Ford GT carbon-fiber supercar, as well as the new F-150 Raptor based on the new aluminum F-150 and the Shelby GT350R Mustang. Ford has been selling hybrids and, later plug-ins, since 2004.

However, the experience acquired in racing the 911 GT3 R Hybrid ( earlier post ) and production of the 918 Spyder plug-in hybrid ( earlier post ) has directly translated to the 919 Hybrid. Carbon-fiber is used in the front and rear fenders, front and rear lids, the doors, underbody, wheel arch panels, rear wing, dashboard and center console.
