The Asian monsoon circulation provides an effective pathway for pollution from Asia, India, and Indonesia to enter the global stratosphere, according to a new international study led by scientists at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) in Boulder, Colo. 2010 engines emissions reduction relative to 2010, 2007, and 2004 US emission standards. For a number of the most important pollutants, levels were substantially lower than required by regulations. These reductions came while emissions of fine particles were also 92% lower than the 2010 standard 99% lower than 2004 emissions.
