The new Audi R18 e-tron quattro diesel hybrid ( earlier post ) will start the 80 th running of Le Mans from grid position one. Le Mans record winner Tom Kristensen in the number “2” Audi R18 e-tron quattro set the fourth-fastest lap (3m 25.433s) behind the quickest hybrid vehicle from Toyota. But this is just a very small step.

Last month, I completed my GRID Alternatives volunteer training in San Diego and this Monday and Tuesday I’ll be in El Cajon, California as one of the volunteers installing a solar PV system on a new Habitat for Humanity home. The EPN has been around since 2001 and to be honest, I should have gotten involved with them a long time ago.

Only PHEVs and battery EVs get cleaner as they get older - because the electric grid gets cleaner every decade.

Inductive charging with a paddle-type connector was used in a number of earlier EVs, notably GM’s EV1, the Nissan Hypermini EV, and the Toyota RAV4. Bott said he was sceptical that such charging lanes would be practical: “It’s scientifically feasible, but it’s whether it’s scalable and feasible is another matter.”.
