In 2001 I began driving an electric car, obtaining the last of the ZEV mandate-required EVs. A Level III fast charger can be installed for about $100,000, compared to millions for a gas station and perhaps $1 million for a battery swap station. We may need ICE vehicles to get there (gas cars will serve for long distance travel even as EVs come to market, I believe) but they should be parked and forgotten.
