UPS is targeting a 20% improvement in fuel economy for its US package delivery fleet from 2000 to 2020. UPS has set a new automotive goal to improve the miles per gallon (MPG) performance of its entire US package delivery fleet by 20 percent between 2000 and 2020. The FedEx fleet of hybrid-electric vehicles has leapt by more than 50 per cent from 172 to 264 after the company added 92 hybrid-electric trucks to its delivery fleet by converting existing models. These standard trucks used in the retrofit programme were models from 2000 or 2001 with 300,000-500,000 miles on the clock.
