You can fill it up at the gas station, and you can plug it in to any 120-volt outlet. Plus more people are installing rooftop solar photovoltaic systems, and clean wind power is vastly expanding nationally (see study by eminent environmentalist Lester Brown cited at CalCars Kudos ). You dont have to plug it in. Why Pay More for a PHEV?

Chevrolet next year will introduce the Volt, a plug-in hybrid electric car. The Volt runs on an electric motor powered by a lithium-ion battery pack, but also has an onboard gasoline-powered charging system to help extend the cars range when a charging station isnt available.
