Lead is still pervasive in the environment despite the slow phasing out of leaded fuels, according to new research from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Leaded petrol has long been banned in many countries, after it was linked to neurological and cardiovascular illnesses.

The objections they raised for years -- "no one is interested, no one would plug in, the technology is too complex, the benefits are minimal, its just shifting the pollution from the tailpipe to the smokestack, theres no demand for these cars" -- still show up occasionally, but are by and large history. One wonders if the recent headway at MIT in building lithium ion cells using ?virus? Theyre not trying to send men to the moon, theyre building an ELECTRIC CAR that uses a petrol motor they already make charging batteries supplied by LG all bolted into a vehicle platform they also already have in production. Interesting in any case.
