Air Products has signed a long-term supply contract with Monsanto Company to build a new world-scale hydrogen production plant to be located at Monsanto’s Luling, Louisiana Roundup facility. Air Products will build a steam methane reformer (SMR) producing more than 100 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of hydrogen.

Air Products will supply a combined additional supply of more than 200 million standard cubic feet per day of hydrogen for Valero’s refineries in St. Charles, Louisiana and Port Arthur, Texas. It will supply the Louisiana and Texas refinery and petrochemical industries with more than 1.2 billion cubic feet of hydrogen per day.

Air Products has completed a 37-mile extension to its US Gulf Coast hydrogen pipeline network in Louisiana. Air Products’s multi-source hydrogen system will soon have a capacity of more than 650 MMSCFD (million standard cubic feet per day) (18,405,950 m 3 or 21,866,269 kg).
