Iberdrola Australia and Australia-based hydrogen developer ABEL Energy will build a green hydrogen and green methanol production plant at Bell Bay in northern Tasmania (Australia). The Bell Bay Powerfuels Project will incorporate one of the largest electrolyzer units—more than100MW—to be installed in Australia by 2025.

Independent research and business intelligence company Rystad Energy estimates that there are about 91 planned hydrogen pipeline projects in the world, totaling 30,300 kilometers and due to come online by around 2035. New hydrogen infrastructure is starting to materialize as the world seeks to accelerate its path to net zero.

bp confirmed it is planning a new large-scale green hydrogen production facility in the North East of England that could deliver up to 500MWe (megawatt electrical input) of hydrogen production by 2030. bp is aiming to start production by 2025, with an initial phase of some 60MWe of installed hydrogen production capacity.
