Proton OnSite has been awarded a purchase order from HydraFLX Systems Ltd to install a hydrogen generator at the Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam (JBPHH) facility outside Honolulu, Hawaii. It will be powered by a combination of solar and grid power.

The US Department of Energy’s (DOE) National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) has produced and made available a rich data set showing what happens, second-by-second, when clouds pass over a solar power installation. Solar power is particularly useful during hot summer days, when the demand for air conditioning is the highest.

The island gets on average nearly 3,000 hours of sunshine per year, putting it on a par with Honolulu and Brisbane, Australia.
