Check out the new Nissan Leaf on video: You’ve got to love the fact that Nissan had balls and the vision to bank their future on full on electric vehicles, leapfrogging their Japanese competition Honda and Toyota whose timid and safe bet on hybrids has already marked them as bridge technology car makers.

The first of several body styles is expected to be a four-seat, three-door hatchback, but they are likely to be smaller than subcompacts like the 2010 Honda Fit. The first was the two-seat Mini E, of which 600 examples are on test in the U.S., Early tests. Europe, and U.K.

But what did surprise this reporter was the absence of Honda, Toyota, BYD, and a lot of the other players listed on the Plug-In America car tracker. Same truth of engineers who have actually talked to real drivers is in evidence with the BMW Mini-E. The Mitsubishi i-MiEV, only here because SCE is testing it.
