Unless/until PV cells become more efficient, and are part of the original installation, they will seriously affect the cars aerodynamics and will be far less durable than metal. Toyotas Nickel-Metal Hydride batteries are considered "non-hazardous waste" [See "high voltage electrical systems" ]. Are the batteries recyclable?
