If someone only spends $100 with me yearly to charge their vehicle at one of my high-speed chargers, I’m still probably going to see in the neighborhood of an additional $400 or $500 in home charging. The anti-EV crowd is fond of saying that EVs are going to “crash the grid.” So it becomes a long time before it starts to tax the grid.

A lot of people don’t understand how that can be, but if you think about the topology of a charger, there’s the power electronics that are connected to the grid—that’s where the cabinet is—then there’s a cable going from there to where the vehicle is, and then there’s vehicle coupling. There’s ease of operations, ease of maintenance benefits.
