Exclusion of conventional segments The PLI scheme excludes conventional petrol, diesel, and CNG segments (internal combustion engines) from its scope, as these segments are deemed to have sufficient manufacturing capacities in India. It incentivises OEMs to ramp up production and adoption of these environmentally friendly vehicles.

With two Electric cars, at the time a Nissan Lean and Mitsubishi Outlander, we use a considerable amount of electricity but not much petrol, so already we were a reasonable way down the less CO2 road. Your power comes from the grid as 240 Volts AC. On a sunny day the rate of battery usage slows and extend the off grid hours. .

If you build a car as a "kit car" with no real factory, then yes, it will never be an economic success. We should have built more Nuclear power plants and created a nuclear waste recycling program. Commendation, absolutely, but GM needs to make sure their company continues on to make sure that money doesnt just go to waste.
